Correspondence now published, with King Edward’s assent, shows that one of the Scottish provosts in Dooembor, 1908, wroto to Baron KuoUys, suggesting that an opportunity should bo R‘ von classes of testifying by moans of a shilling subscription fund, whose object King Edward and Queen Alexandra should dotormine, to show appreciation _of t“ B immense good their Majesties had done on behalf of pbaco and goodwill. Baron Knollys replied that tho King rojoicod to hour that his subjects believod that ho and tho Quoon had boon of some utility in promoting peace and goodwill, and they wore more than contented with that reward. They thanked tho provost, and opined that the latter would not proceed farther.
