A lengthy disoussion took place in regard to the deoision of the Hawke’s Bay Metropolitan Club in refusing to grant a license to S. Malono. It was pointed out that the stewards of the Gisborne Racing Olub had held an exhaustive enquiry in regard to tho alleged foul riding on the part of Malone, and had completely exonerated him from blame. Several members thought the Poverty Bay Turf Club was tho proper body to move in the matter, as they had sent forward Malone’s application for a license.
The following resolution was unanimously adopted: “ That this club write to the Hawke’s Bay Metropolitan Club stating that they had been informed that Malone's application for a jockey’s license had been refused and that they should be informed of the reason why it had been declined.” The proceedings terminated at ten o'clock, the election of offioers for the ensuing year and other committee business being postponed..
