HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

SPBING SHOW. The Society’s annual bnlb and spring flower show was hold yesterday afternoon and evening in His Majesty's l’hoatro. There was a marked advauoo in the number and variety of exhibits, and the arrangement of the blooms showed a groat improvement on past exhibitions- A number of fine rioh blooms were sent by Mr F. , Perry of Hawke’s Bay, including speoimens of Luoifora, flambeaux, M. J. Berkley, leodsii amabilis, alba, and double Bip Van Wmkle. Those blooms were arranged on Mr Grant's table, who had a good collection of his own growing. Mr Gilbert Bull’s collection included a fine Glory of Leiden, the ohampion of tho show. Mr Darton and Mr A. Thompson had a very large collection of oboioo blooms, tbe latter showing O' model of the Gook memorial park and monument. Other exhibitors who had good collections wore Dr Williams, Mrs Mann, Mrs Sherratt, Mrs 0. P. Davies, Mrs A. E., Muir, Mrs Burdott, Mr Gault, Mrs Seymour. Mra D. Blair, Mr W. J. Anderson, Mrs F. J. Eowley, and Mr E. G. Matthews. Messrs Gibbons and Co. had a nioe collection of daffodils on exhibition, and Mr Tansloy as usual had a fino oolleotion of blooms. Mr J. Doleman, of Patutahi, hud a fine exhibit of orangos, lemons, and apples. Prizes were awarded as follows:—Yellow trumpet daffodil: Mr G. T. Bull’s Glory of Leiden, first and ohampion of show. Bicolor trumpet varieties : Mrs A. B. Muir’s Empress, 1. Leedsii variety: Mr G. Grant’s Katherine Spurred, 1, Inoomp&r* abilis section: Mrs W, G. Shnr'ratt’s Sir Watkin, 1. Barrii varieties :Dr Williams’ Barrii conßpiouous, 1. Bucbidgei typo : Mr F. J. Rowley’s Falstaff, 1. Best collection of anemones: Mr E. Gault, 1. Best collection of hyaoinths: Mrs A. R. Muir, 1.

In the evening a large number of visitors iDspeoted the show, there being over 200 present during the evening. The City Band, under the baton of Bandmaster Obrisp, rendered a ohoioe musical pro. gramme.
