A BIG WORK.

A NEW GRAVING DOCK. (For Press Association.) Dunedin, last night. Nine tenders were received by the dook trust for the oontructiou of a new graving dock at Fort Chalmers, larger than the present one, the amounts ranging from £58,000 to £86,256. The lowest tender for £53,000, was from a Sydney firm, but was informal. The trust, after dis cusslod, accepted the tender of Lnttrell aod Scott, Christoharoh, of £58,719. It is understood there was a local tender for £2OOO less than this. The trust is to provide cement, engine, aud pumps at a cost in all of £16,000, and this will make the cost of the dook £75,000, whioh is within £IOOO of the engineer's estimate. The contractors undertake to complete the work within six months of getting use of the dredge.
