“QUEEN’S EVIDENCE.”

| There was a large house at His Majesty’s Theatre last evening, when Bias’s Dramatic Company produced the pretty drama “Queen’s Evidence." The piece, which was oxoellently staged, afforded ample scope for tbs members of the company to shown their histrionio abilities, and the enthusiastic manner in which they were received daring the evening Bhowed that their efforts were fully recognised. Miss Bay Nelson gave an artistio interpretation of the somewhat trying character of Kate Modi and, making the most of her opportunities, and at no time overdoing' the part. She was fre* quently applauded throughout. Miss Baohel Bice, as usual, was fully equal to the demands of her part, and as Laura I Sydney played with great success, acting throughout iu a most graceful manner. Miss Esther Dalroy gained high encomiums for her impersonation of Ada Sydney, whilst little Harry Bioe did well as Arthur ' Sydney. Mr B. H. Clark as Isaaos, alias Levant (with.an eye like a beagle) supplied a good deal of the humor of the piece, and never failed to soore his point. Mr Alfred Bioe gave a very able rendering of the part of Gilbert Medland, whilst Mr Thomas A. Holds- ■ worth seoared hosts of new admirers fqr ! his pourlrayal of the villain of the piece. Mr James Alexander ns Sir Frederiol 1 Bydney, Mr James Bobb as Mr Whynford | Mr B. Smith as Joe, a lock-keeper, am Mr B. Mayers as James, a footman, madi up a very strong caßt, and all did thei; share in adding to the success of the drama The musio was supplied by a strong oroheslra under the oonductorship of Mi (dittos, and was greotly appreciated. The limelight and meobanioal effeots undei the charge of Mr B. H. Clarke were most successfully carried out.
