CITY BAND.
The annual meeting of the Gisborne City Band was held in the Band room last evening, Bandmaster Chrisp presiding. The report showed that the band was in a flourishing condition, there being a large increase of assets, L 215 being reoeived by public subscriptions and engagements. The; thanks of the band were due to the bandmaster for the way he carried out his duties; the donors of oheques, to Captain Beere and Deputy Bandmaster Don ;,>and also to the members for their increased attendance daring the year. The report also dealt with the fine new bandroom, a pleasing feature of the opening night being that it was used for the first time free of debt. The band had gained valuable experience at the Auokland contest, and were only beaten by five of New Zealand's acknowledged crack bands. The introduction of a trio of slide trombones was made, and the officers showed considerable improvement in carrying out the new.duties passed in the by-laws at the laet meeting. The balance sheet showed the assets to be L 466 sb—instruments L2Ol, buildings Ll7O, contents Ll 6 2s 6d, musio L 47 17s 6d, uniforms, etc., LSI, cash in hand ss, The election of officers resulted as follows Bandmaster, Mr Chrisp ; de-puty-master, Mr MoOastril; sergeant, Mr Young ; corporal, Mr Bioharde ; lancecorporal, Mr Douglas ; librarian, Mr Sojvonder; secretary, Mr Piokford; committee, Messrs Pettie, Young, and Don; auditor, Captain Beere; Mr Morrison, custodian.
Votes of thanks were passed to Messrs Spurdle, Bichards, Clayton, Morrison, Piokford, Beere, Pearce, Pettie, Douglas, Don, Solvander, and the fire brigade. A vote of sympathy was expressed with Bandsman Bannister.
