COSMOPOLITAN CLUB.
The annual meeting of the above Club was held on Friday evening in the Club rooms, with a very full attendance, Mr T. Adair, President, in the ohair. The balance-sheet committee and auditor’s report being read, the same was moved ior adoption by Mr T. Adair, and seconded by Mr J. B. Leydon. Several members spoke upon the very sound financial position of tbe Club, and congratulated the offioers npon the year’s i working, especially upon the increase of new members. At the same time reference had to be made to the loss sustained I by death of two members daring tbe year, 1 the late Me W at. Cooper and Mr John
Rosie, the latter having boon one of the trußteos and an original promotor of the Olnb. Tho election of officers was then proooodod with, Mr X. Adair, who has hold tho offioo of President einoo the Btart of the Club, vaoatiDg tbo chair ia favor of Mr 0. H. Ambridgo, who has for two years bold the position of sooretary. Mr 0. H. Ambridgo, beiog asked to preside, exprossd himself as highly honored, and only hoped to bo able to do half os well as bis successor had done. Mr Webb was elected vioo-prosidont after himself and others deI dining to do so until tho persuasive powers of the ohairman prevailed. Mr R. T. Soymour was re-oleoted treasurer. Mr A. Ward, as socrolary, was a popular ono. Mloesrs T. Adair, J. A. Luoas (ro-oleotod), and D. J. Barry trustees, the latter in tho plaoo of tho late Mr John Rosie. Mr J.
Qeorgoson waa again oiootEd auditor, and soveral speakers were ioud in bis praise, being always ready and willing to como forward at short notico and work for the benefit of the olnb. Mr G. Maher waa reeleoted as olub steward, and was specially thanked for having so well looked after the billiard table and applianoos during the past year. Tbo committee elected were Messrs Sawyer, Ellerbeck, Leydon, J. B. Oman, G. B. Maher, F. -.Thomson, and M. Craig. Ift was arranged that the return card tournmont with Mr'J. A. Harding and his
friends should take plaoe in the olub rooms on Friday, September 22nd, when members would have to make sure of a win.
Daring the evening Mr L. A. Ellerbeok presented to the olub an enlarged photograph, framed, of the late Mr John Rosie, and was specially thanked by tho president and mouthers for tho same.
Special thanka were paasod to the donora of trophiea daring the year which had boen given for billiard, pyramid, and eribbage tournaments. Success to the club was then drank in light refreshments, after which Professor Weeb read the head of one of the committee, and thus closed an enjoyable evening.
