'(Per Press Association.*) 1 Napier, last night. In the Supreme Court William Nicoll, late of the Telegraph Department, for theft, was sentenced to six months’ [imprisonment. W. Thompson, for theft, was found guilty and remanded.

(Greymonth, last night. Mr , Joseph Petrie was yesterday presented with six large requisitions asking him to contest the; Grey seat, In reply, he has agreed to the request, as a Government supporter. Dunedin, last night. Stott and Bromley, charged with the murder of a Chinaman atTapanui, were remanded on the application of the Crown Prosecutor till the 13th at Tapanui. A six-roomed house at Mosgiel, occupied by Mrs Liddell and owned by James Aitken, was burned to the ground last night. The fire is supposed to have originated in the kitchen, tr Mrs Liddell and five children escaped in their night clothes. Nothing was saved. The insurance on the building was £250 in the Royal Exchange. -
