PalmorstoD North, last night. The Manawatu Racing dub has adopted a programme for its Christmas meeting, allotting 5200 sovs over two days. It has been decided to effect improvements in the Awapuni course, which will give almost straight runs in six and seven-furlong races, only the home bend being left in.
Wellington, last night. In reply to a deputation of commercial travellers, the Minister for Railways to-day Baid the question of dividing the North Island in three sections instead of one for the purposes of the annual tickets was a big one, and required careful consideration. With regard to carrying return samples free, he would issue instructions to this effect at an early date.
