The Colonial Consignment and Distributing Company have received the following cable from their Laodon office : —A further fall of in the value of lamb. Mutton—Canterbury 4£d, Napier,Wellington and North Island 3 7-Bd, lamb, first quality 6d, second 4 7 Bd. Beef, hind* quartette 8 8 Bd, fores Sid.

SALE AT, MATAWHERO .YARDS, ' The Matawhero stock sales were held yesterday, when there were yarded about 2000 sheep and 500 bead of cattle, and a small yarding of pigs. There was a good attendanos of buyers, and bidding was brisk, for sheep, but somewhat dull for cattle, the majority of whioh wae dairy et'oek. Messrs Williams and Kettle and tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agenoy Company had a yarding of about 1400 sheep, comprising mostly hoggets and ewes and lambs. The following were the quo* tatious: 45 big wethors (killable condition) 19s 2d, 82 hoggets 15s, 90 hoggets 100, 52 owes and lambs 19s 6d, 16 fat wether hoggets (good line) 18s 6d, 116 do. 18s, 12 ewes and 14 lambs 225, 16 big store wethers 18e 6d, 25 empty owes 10s fid, 207 fat wether hoggete (prime lot) 19s fid. About 400 . cattle were yarded, the majority beiog springing dairy etook. The prioes realised were : 1 cow and calf £3 16s, two sprmgiDg oows £B, 1 do. £5 ss, 1 do. £i 10s, 1 cow iu foil profit £6,7 cows and 4 yearliogs (all counted) £2 10s, 1 heifer £3, 5 old oows in poor condition 85s, 8 beef bullocks £7 ss.

There was a fair demand for pigs, whioh sold at the following prioes2 empty sows 80s, 7 porkers 12s, 2 empty sows 31s, 5 porkers 16s, 2 big porkers 255, 5 small porkors 7b 6d.

Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. and Dalgety and Co. did the following business

Sheep : There was an offering of olose on 600, principally stores and fat wethers. Bidding was brisk, and the lines were disposed of as follows—loß store wethers 19s lOd, 21 fat wethers 20s, 60 fat wethers 21s, 66 fat wethers 20s 6d, 42 store wethers 19s 6d, 12 fall ewes 18s 6d, 88 store ewes 16s od.

Cattle: The yarding was comprised chiefly of dairy stock, and bidding, except for the ohoioost, was. dull. Thirteen dairy heifers brought jG4 10s, two £5 2s 6d, three £l los, one dairy cow £9 10s, one £B, one £8 I#3, one £7 16s, one £6, Figs: A few were offered, small porkers bringing from 12s 6d to 12s 9d.
