In a certain country district, not manv hundreds of miles from Auckland, lives a man in the prime of life who holds a medioal certificate of his own death, which ho would not part with for any small eonHe was dangerously ill from typhoid, and the dootor, on one of his visits, concluded that he would not last long. In the event of death, the doctor would be required to oome five' or six miles, over very bad roads, and to cross a river. Therefore, to save hicnself further trouble, he wrote out the certificate of death, saying that the end would happen in a few hours.
