Invercargill, last night. I The Supreme Court Sittings opened beI fore Judgo Cooper to-day. The calendar j comprised seven charges against eight per~ I sons. With the exception of a charge of I wife murder against Daniel Swan, the I cases are of an ordinary nature. True bills were found in all caaes. Harry Hart aged 31, pleaded guilty to forgery and was* sentenced to 12 months. William Hioks aged 24, pleaded guilty to forgery. His Honor said the offence was a serious one but thore wero eases in whioh probation was justified, and this was one- His Honor thought accused gave way under great stress of circumstances, his wife being ill, and being in financial difficulties. He admitted him to probation for twelve months.
Joseph Griffiths, aged 21, for stealing a watch valued at £4O from a dwelling, pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to six I months’ imprisonment. Frank Curtain agod 39, for robbery from the person' pleaded guilty, and wes sentenced to two* years. Accused took £2B from tho pockets of a man asleep in an hotel bedroom.
