(Par Press Association.) Napier, last night. A number of Small fires have occurred here of late, leading to a susspicion that all were not accidental. The latest ocourred on Saturday night in a wash-house near tho railway station, and as tho fire was reported by a man named Prank Williamson, who was first on the scene at a fire on the previous night the police arrested Jhim on a charge of arson. Accused was brought before the Court this morning and remanded on substantial bail. The ladies’ championship golf tour?, nament closed on Saturday, with consolation and mixed foursomes matches. The former was won by Miss Harcourti, Wellington, with a net score of 86. Mrs Bloomfield, of Auckland, scored 93. The foursomes match was won by Miss Gorrie and Miss Borthwick 5 down. Oomaru, last night. At the Harbor Board meeting the tender of Pitzgerald and Bignell (Greymouth) of £3445 Bs. was accepted for construction of ironwork for the new wharf. The term of the contract is nine months.
