AUCKLAND NEWS.
(Per Pross Association.) Auckland, last night.
William Homy Cowan, formerly omployed on the Telegraph Construction Department of tho post office, arrested at Sydney on a warrant, was charged to-day with having on two occasions rocoivod moneys from tho post office and with fraudulently omitting to pay tho same to a number of Government employes, the amounts involved totalling £!2G. Accused was remanded on bail, on tho application of tho police, until Wednesday. Tho ballot for tho selection of a Liberal candidate for Manukau beween Mr B. D. Stetvart and Mr P. Parr resulted in the former being chosen.
