There were about 8000 people present.- The looal team —including the Nelson, Marlborough, and Boiler nnions—lost the toss, and had the disadvantage of playing against a-strong wind in the first spell, but it lulled in the second. After being foroed down Nelson was penalised, and Wickham kicked a goal. Australians 8. Then Boon (Nelson) seoured a try,.which was unconverted, _ This equalised the scores. In the seoond spell Cornes (Nelson) obtained ,a try, which was .converted by o ! Brien . (Marlborough), and Smith (Nelson) secured a mark, whioh. was. converted. Nelson thus won by 12 points to 3. The visitors were entertained at dinner to-nigbt.
