(Per Press Association.) Palmerston North, last night. A two-storied building in Cuba street was destroyed by firo at 1.30 tbit morning. Thu building was recently vacated by the Working Men’s Club, and nt the lim ) of the fire was occupied by J. Graham (aleckriciun), Notfc (billiard s.iloou), Leigh and Co. The stocks ot the various tenants were praclioally eovrrod by insurance, with the exception of Miss Culling, who lost all her property. Smno approhunsion existod as to tho fata of the latter and two young ladies who oooupied rooms on the first floor, bnt it was subsequently ascertained they were absent from town. Foilding, yeotorday. An inquiry into tho reoent fire whioh destroyed business promises in Manchester stroot is proceeding; Feilding, last night. After occupying two days the enquiry into the reoent fire, resulting in the destruction of tho businoss premises in Manchester street, was concluded to-day. Tho jury returned a verdict that they were satisfied that the firo commenced in the premises of Wilson and Coles in a lean-to at tho hack on tho evening of July 10th. Thore was not sufficient ovidonce to show how the fire originated.
