PUNITIVE EXPEDITION BY A WARSHIP,

She reports that a party of marines Iu charge of a lieutenant marched to tho interior to a village called Bullys to capture natives concerned in the recent outrages against whites. Three of the supposed chiefs were arrested. On leaving the viliage the party was fired on, a marine named Moal being killed. The NeurDie’s party fired, killing four. After burning the village, and whilst, returning to the ship, they were again fired on. A marine was wounded. Two of the native murderers of Captain Pentecost wero brought to Noumea,
