Two constables were retired at sixty-’ Sve years of age, one with thirty-four years* and the other with tbirty-s.x years service, Their annual allowances were £93 and £BB 11s respectively. Teachers under the Bill now before Parliament roni'ld receive, nnder similar conditions, £52 per annum. We cannot thmk that either Parliament or the public will allow members of the toacbing profession, adruittod to bo the most important branch of'the Pubhc Service, to be treated thus illiberally.—Punedm Star,
