BLAZE AT FOXTON.

SOME OLD BUILDINGS DESTROYED.

(Per Pross Association.) PalmorstoD North, last night. A destructive fire broke out at Poston about 5.30 this evening in Messrs Wyatt, Clark and Co.’s rooms, and spreading with great rapidity destroyed the Bank of New Zealand and the manager’s dwelling on "the south, and Chung Wsh and Co.’s shop on the north. Haywood’s hotel and Walker’s store were at one time in danger. The Church of England also nearly caught alight, bat the bucket workers managed to re3tciot tho area of tho flames. The origin of tho outbreak is uncertain, but is said -to bo due to a defective obimney. All the bank documents, cash, etc., were got out safely. The blook burnt is one of the oldest in Foxion, and should have been condemned long ago. Fortunately there Was little or no wind, otherwise the whole town would probably have gone.
