THE MAORI MISSION.

A PRAISEWORTHY OBJECT. At a representative meeting of members of tbe Te Aute Association tbe following resolution was unanimously oarried: — “ That this Association, with the object of affording practical assistance to the Maori Church, and of obtaining for distribution among all Anglionu churchmen more full and correct information ns to the present difficulties of the church missionaries in New Zealand, and of the Maori clergy, adopt the,following objects as part of this yoar’s work :

“ 1. To obtain historical facts us to the past history of the Maori Church, and to set apart at least two evenings in the year for their consideration.

“ 2. To obtain reliable information (n) as to tho work now going on in settled Maori districts for supplying tbe services of tho church to native Christians ; (b) as to the work now going on to reach the lapsed native Christians, and those natives who have had no Christian instruction at all and who are practically heathens, and as to the moneys now available to roach all these native persons in the districts of Taranaki, Waikato, and the Growers ; (c) as to the work required for the evangelisation of the Maoris, which is not at present being done at all; (d) to obtain reliable information and statistics as to the numbers of the Maori people, Christian or heathen, and to found an enquiry as to whether as a race they are increasing or decreasing ; (e) to trace the history of past students of Te Rau College, and to place on record tho work done by them as native pastors or evangelists. “ To aid th 6 Maori Church and the Now Zealand Trust Mission Board in every way within the power of tho Association, by making widely known the facts ascertained among all Anglican ehurchmon, and by diroat financial aid as tho funds obtained may permit.".
