At the Rangiora Court Gordon Walls, William O’Rourke, and Frederick Jones were each fined £3 and costs £1 8s for having used an unsportsmanlike device to take trout. Defendants fished by night with torobes, and bad been caught killing the trout with an iron fenoe standard. The Rolloston Memorial Committee have decided to obtain a pedestal polished with white limestone from Home at a oost of £305. The statue is expected to arrive in the oolony in about two months’ time. There has been sent Home £IOOO to pay the sculptor, and the committee has £2Bl 3s Id in hand. There is considered to be no difficulty in raising tbe additional amount necessary for the pedestal. On the motion of Mr Hardy, M.H.R., tho committee decided that enquiries bo made from tho sculptor as to the oost of a bust of the late Hon. Mr Rolleston, to be placed in the Parliamentary Library. The Canterbury Rugby Union suspended a player named Perojval, a member of the Lyttelton Club, for five years from date for having nsed obscene language in a game played last Saturday.
