King Edward held a Council aboard the Imperial yacht. He approved of the Speech from the Throne, and signed tho prorogation of Parliament. . Recaived 11.40 p.m., August 8.

In tho House of Commons Mr Lyttelton, in reply to a question, said he was aware that tha.Austraiian Commonwealth was anxious for tho early appointment of a commission for tbß settlement of land claims in the New Hebrides. The Imperial Government for some time past had been in communication with the French Government on the subject, and were doing their utmost to expedite negotiations. The Government majorities on tho Naval Works Bill were upwards of a hundred. The Unemployed Workmen’s Bill was read a third time. Tho Government accept Mr Lloyd George’s amendment allowing towns of 10,000 inhabitants to onforoe tho measure. The House of Lords read the Unemployed Bill a third time, and the Scottish i Church Bill a third time.
