(Per Press Association.) Dunedin, last night. The football match between Manawatu and Otago was played on the Caledonian Ground in beautiful weather, with a gentle breeze from the harbor. The game, re,Baited in a win for Otago by 4 points (a goal from a mark) to nil. It was a very ■unsatisfactory exhibition of football, for which the crazy kind of ball used appeared to be somewhat responsible, as it wobbled and rolled in every direction but the one expeated. Manawatu played a hard forward game, and had the best-of the game in the first spell, but lacked scoring. In file second spell, with the wind in their favor, the Otago men bed slightly the best ■of it, but they also lacked scoring men, And the passing rushes-by the backs went e&raight across the' ground, or someone 'badly missed a pass and Manawatu cut in. Of the visitors Jobnßtoue, Msßa-» Hepburn, aud-Smitb put in the best work of the backs. Skelly, at full, stood out by himself, Howitt. Scott, and Ongley giving him good support. Portoous was the best of the local forwards. Tho backs lacked combination.
