LIBERAL ASSOCIATION.
A mealing of tbo Cock County Liberal Association was held in tbe Farmers’ Union Club rooms last evening. There was a largo attendance, Mr Dickson being in th'o chair. .
It wan unanimously deoiled to support the candidature of the Hod. J. Carrofl for the Waiopu seat at the forthcoming election.
Mr W. L. Bees was olected president of the Association.
Mr F. Harris’ resignation ns secretary was accepted, and Mr Dickson was appointed If} the position. A reiolution wue passed yequ eating the Government to acquiro the 1 land through which the railway line to the Motu will pass for closer settlement, as most of tho larrd along tho proposed route was verysuitable for subdivision into small areas of from 600 to 900 acres. It was decided to send tbe resolution to ti e Premier, the member for the district, and tbo Minister for Lands It was pointed out that the motion was on tbe same lines as adopted in Marlborough before tho purchase of the Flaxbourrie 'estate.’ The railway tyas stopped for throe years liefbro the purchase wag ccjnpleted. The secretary was instructed to write a congratulatory letter to ifr J. Olliyier. A quantity of routine business was then transacted, and the meeting adjourned.
