(Per Press Association.) Christchurch, last night. The Supreme Ooart criminal sessions commenced this merning. Judge Denniston said the calendar had somewhat of a ‘formidable appearance, but was not seriouß, as It seemed there, were thirty indictments, but nine were against two persons, and thus the apparent length of the list was somewhat redaced. Some cases were of a serious natore, but none would give any trouble to the grand jury. David Burke, for theft from a dwelling, was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment; Cecil Claude Bush, theft, to three months ; Joseph TbiekweJl, breach of pro., bstion, ordered to pay £1 a month till the arrears (£6) are paid ofi; Andrew Carl Sember; alias Nelson, false pretences, three charges, three years on each charge, sentences to be eoneurrent ; Peter puncao, theft from a steamer, the case is bsipg Beard. , Pater.—Mr Peter Puncao, for having stolen a sailor’s bag, was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment. Clarence Banton was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment for indecent exposure. George Jones was acquitted on a charge of having assaulted and robbed Robert Haskett of £ls.
