Mr Bent ia having a scheme prepared to settle the unemployed on laud on the Danish sye.tem : £75 will be granted to erect a dwelling and £125 to procure implements and stock, the repayments to be the same period as under the Cloßer Settlement Act. Tho Premier expects to have 400 men settled down before Christmas. Ho proposes to spend about £BO.OOO, The Labor Conference discussed a motion than futuro candidates he pledged to protection. Tho motion was lost, and another carried that a referendum of electors of tho Commonwealth be taken on tho tariff aftor the Tariff Commission has completed its labors.
