An oxplosion in No. 2 pit of tha Uuitod Notional oolleriee, Wattotown, Glamorgonehiie, killed 123, Two of the othors who woro rescued succumbed. Eight hundrod workers in No. 1 mino wero rescued uninjured, though oven horo the oflocts of the explosion damaged the guido ropoe and delayed the rescuers proceeding to No- 2, which wps found to bo filled with foul air. Sovonty bodies worn recovered,including that of the manager, Mr Meredith. Berlin, July 12. A fragment of storm falling overturned a petroloum lamp, which fired a Borrnsin mine at Dortmund, entombing 39, whose rescue is impossible.
