ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
{Pec Press ' Auckland, last night. Obituary : Tho Rev. Rather Benediot. The Coroner held an inquiry at Auck(land Hospital yesterday concerning tho death of Benjamin Jones, which occurred as the result of being crushed.in a lift oa Saturday at the promisee of, Hsrvey and Bons, tinsmiths. Dr Ferguson, resident surgeon at the hospital, said admitted on Saturday morning. He wao semi conscious. His breast bona wa© fractured and his chest crushed in. Ho died about two hours after admission, tho cause of death being a fracture of tho sternum and laceration of the lungs. Tb« jury returned a verdict to the effect that toe cause of death was purely, accidental, no blame being attachable to anyone. They further expressed tho opinion that Harvey and Sons had adopted every reasonable precaution against accident by tho lift. The jury also passed a resolution of sympathy with the deoeassd*s widow. Napier, last night. Ti >° death is announced of Mr William Miller, a very old identity, aged 80. Deceased was formorly gaoler at Napier.
Feilding, lasi bight. Tho Rgv. Hugh M. Murray, aged 7J died last eveniug. Deoeaßsd arrived in tba colony in 1871. He was inducted to tho Presbyterian Church here io 1879, reti-iDg alter 17 years’ ministry. Ho was in charge of several churches in Canterbury previous to coming ta Feilding. _
