Dofouduut was rooeutly prosecutod for solliug copies of Sydney Truth, alleged to contain obscono and immoral matter, but ploadod that ho knew nothing of tho contents, which tho Ohiof Justice dircoted tho jury .was no dofonce. A verdict of guilty was returned and sontonoo deferred, so that tho Appeal Court might dooido on tho poiufß rnisod'. Tho oaso is bejntr -argued before Sir Robert Stout, Judgos Williams, Cooper Edwards, uud Chapman. Messrs Skorrott and Dunn appear - for defendant, and Mr Bell for tho Crown.’
