Noble and Darling continued their ovornignt play, Byrne and Quaife bowling. Both immediately got to work, and kept the field busy Thirteen runs were scored off the first over, and 50 appeared to Noble’s credit at the end of two hours, the result of exoellent play. Darling, by powerful driving, overhauled Noble at 60, his 50 having taken 85 minutes to compile. . Bowling changes were frequent. With his score at 71 the Australian captain was stumped by Lilley. Ho had batted two hours and twenty minutes, and gave only one chance, and that early in the innings. Five for 272. Noble, whose total stood at 93, had completed 1000 runs in the season, following the example of Fry and Denton. At the lunoheon adjournment the score was 304, Noble 113, Hopkins 8. On resuming the attendance increased to 6000. Noble added a dozen and then a faultless innings of three hours forty minutes was brought to a close by bis giving an easy.' chance to Moorhouee at mid on. His score inolnded fourteen fonrers. . Cotter joined Hopkins, and the new-' comer, in the 20 minutes he was at the wickets, played vigorous cricket, totting up 37, beforo Lilley easily stumped him. Seven for 336. Hopkins five rans later was taken at short mid-on. Laver played Hargreaves on at 373, and a little later on Howell was stamped. The innings closed for 380. After lunch heavy rain set in, and prevented Warwick starting their second innings, and stumps were drawn.
