MR DEAKIN’S BOMBSHELL,

The only information Mr Reid afforded interviewers to-day was that; he proposed to reserve his comments on Mr Deakin 8 speech for the present. Mr Watson is also reticent and noncommittal. Regarding Mr Deakiu’s reference to post-dated cheques, be says thal Mr Deakin overlooks the faot that the Labor platform contains the party’s definite, tangible proposals, beyond which | there will be no attempt to go without further authority from the electors. Mr Hughes considers that unless Mr Reid throws over the Anti-Socialist party I a crisis is inevitable, and the Government I will bo defeated by a strong majority, Sir W. Lyne says that if Mr Deakin } takes action, which seems probable, on / the test vote, the Government will be I largely outvoted. x
