FIGHTING IN LODZ. THE CZAR AGAIN CHANGES FRONT.

There is a general strike at Lodz, Poland. Inns were pillaged and the.people are in a state of panic. Traffic is interrupted. - Revolver firing ie almost continuous. In different quarters barricades were erected. The troops storming them killed 50 people and wounded 200. Martial law has been declared.

Two youths were arrested near Gatchina in possession of bombs. The Ruse has been suspended for a month for puplishing the Zemstvoists address to the Czar.

It is officially announoed at St. Petersburg that the Czar’s spoech has been misinterpreted. The speech is not intended to extend tho principle of the rescript of March 3rd, or grant anything resembling tho Parliament of Western Europe. Tho words clearly showed that representatives of the people would be convicted under conditions responding to Russian autocratic principles. [The word “ convioted” is given ns received by cable, but mußt be an error.] Received 5.25 p.m., June 25. It is believed there wero 200 casualties at Lodz. No medical men assist the wounded.

Details from Lodz show that the Sooial Democrats and a Jewish band instigated tho rioting to avenge 57 workmen killed. On Wednesday seven Cossacks and two officers were killed. On Thursday a girl of thirteen was shot and one soldier. Two bombs were thrown into the barracks on Friday and killed 20 soldiers. Workmen from the roof poured vitriol on the soldiers, who volleyed fiercely on the crowd.
