MoLeod scored mainly by clever leg hits. Tho partnership between him and Hopkins was an excellent display of half an hour. Hopkins made good but lucky driyes and snicks. Nine for 157. Laver joined Hopkins, and commenoed with three fourers, 33 runs being added in 20 minutes, and then Laver was taken by a welljudged catch at long-leg. Hopkins batted for hours, lie hit ono 'five and eight fourore. He made some fine hits, but his innings was occasionally faulty.
