HOSPSTAL TRUSTEES

MONTHLY MEETING,

Tho monthly mooting of tho Trustees was held yesterday. Present: Messrs J. W. Nolan (chairman), A. Dewing, E. P. Joyoe, J. A. Harding, R. Johnston, A. Tuohy, and T. A. Coleman (secrotary) A roply was received from the Minister for Railways re concession in fares to hospital nurses. Tho Minister regretted that ho could not see bis way to moke any special concession, as the ordinary fores in force throughout tho colony wero so low as to put no bar in the way of anyone with tho leisure to travel. Mr W. P. Finnoran wrote re the pro' posed amesthetio room, stating that the room would bo small, aud its position would detract from the appearance of the building. Ho suggeetad that its erection bo deferred until further extension was completed. It was decided to hold the matter over for further consideration, Mr Finnerau’s report being adopted. Tho treasurer, Mr J. A. Harding, reported a 3 follows :—Receipts : Bank credit balance 26th May, £282 11s 8d ; patients' fees, £l9 10s; donation, £1 Is; District Board requisition, £350; Government subsidy on subscriptions, £B7 3s 9d ; total, £740 6s ss. Disbursements : Accounts passed 2G:h May, £122 3s ; salaries and wagoß Slat May, £sl lla 8d ; total, £173, 14s Bd. Balance: Bank credit at date, £566 11s 9d ; accounts for payment, £B2 11s 4d; Distriot Board requisition due 30ch June, £220. Mr Tuoby, for the Visiting Committee, reported that everything was going on satisfactorily at the hospital. Messrs Tuoby and Dewing wero appointed visiting Committee for tho onsuing month.

Tho house report showed : Remaining from last, month 19, admitted since 21, discharged' 16, died 3, remaining at date 22. There were nq eases of fever. Tho Chairman said the Trustees had £7OO in hand, oud tho question was whether they could mako some improve, moots with it ( especially as thero was the hospital social coming on, which would moan another £2OO.

Mr Harding said if any improvements were done tho centre of the hospital building, the old part, should be pulled out and rebuilt in brick.
