WATER SUPPLY
|S STEEL RIVETTED PIPES. MAYOR ASKED TO CALL PUBLIC MEETING. The following requistion has been forwarded to his Worship the Mayor, asking him to convene a public meeting- to consider the question of the prudence of adopting Mr Hay’s scheme, and especially the üb6 of steel rivetted pipes ; ■“ To his Worship the Mayor, Gisborne. the.undersigned, electors for the borough of Gisborne, request you-to call a public meeting to consider the question of our borough adopting Mr Hay’s water scheme, including the steel rivetted pipes.' As we consider there is grave reason to question the prudence of adopting Mr Hay’s scheme and the steel rivetted pipes, we would ask you and the Council to defer committing this borough to any final arrangements with Mr Hay until* ratepayers have had an opportunity of considering the matter in its various phases.
