Christohurcb, last night. ■ P. H. A. T. Opie, a candidate for the Courtenay seat, addressed a poorly attended meeting at Kirwee last night. He expessed himself as a no-license supporter. , A vote of thanks was carried. Auokland. last night.

During the voyage of the Ayrshire from Capetown to Adelaide a steerage passenger named Parry died suddenly. The man boarded the vessel at .Liverpool, and leaves a wife and two children in that city. The body was buried at sea. Mr L. J. Bagnall has consented, in reply to a requisition, to stand as Opposition candidate for Auckland Central. Mr Massey, speaking in connection with the requisition, outlined the policy of the Opposition, and challenged the Government to bring forward their policy, place the two side by side, and let electors decide.

Wellington, last night.

The strong gale blowing all day and night shows no sign of abatement. Heavy rain squalls are frequent, and it is miserably cold. At a meeting of the Political Labour League to-night it was decided to call attention to the workless condition of a large number of unskilled labourers in the city, and to ask that a special effort be made to find work for them.

In the Divorce Court to-day a decree nisi in the case of Walter Prier v. Jane Prier and James Judge was made absolute. Kelson, last night. Mr Graham addressed the city electors to-night, specking in favor of the Government policy and its results. He had been holding meetings in the country districts, and at each place, including the city roceived a vote of thanks and confidence, with a vote of confidence in the policy of the Government.
