PREMIER CARRUTHERS GIVES EVIDENCE.
WARRANT ISSUED FOR ARREST OF WILLIS.
By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyrighl Received 9.55 p.m., June 23. Sydney, June 23.
Mr Carruthere gave evidence before the Land Commission. He said that his firm acted professionally in Sim’s case in the appeal to the Land Court. He never saw Willis in the case at all. He knew nothing whatever about the Myall Creek case. He was assured by his partner that the firm had not been associated with any of the cases mentioned before the Commission except Sim’s case. His partner had acted on behalf of the firm in many matters for Willis and his wife, but any matters that came before the Commission had been sent away from their office. Referring to Gardiner’s charges he said it was a mere statement that the land was good was nothing, as climatical conditions had to be considered, He sthted that the Minister hod done wrong ill granting that olass of land as an improvement lease.' It was not convincing.
At the instance of Mr John Hayeß, exmember of the Assembly, a.warrant has been issued for the arrest of Willis on a charge of fraud under the Crown Lands Act.
