The bearing of evidence m connection with the Chalmers’ licensing case was continued to-day. Evidence in support of the petition was closed for the present, and Mr A. S. Adams spoke at some length reviewing the evidence given and contending that nothing had been addueod to show that the fairness of the poll had-been affected, He then proceeded to call rebutting evidence. A watchman deposed that he did not consider the town clock a perfectly reliable timepiece. The deputy returning officer at Sandount denied having I said to an elector, “ I suppose you will strike out the top line.” The deputy returning officers at Pino Hill domed the irregularites alleged, and said that the booth had been closed at seven by the school clock, and that was corroborated by his daughter and the scrutineers of the no-liconse party. Several witnesses who voted at the Gardens booth denied that there was any confusion or disturbance, and said they had no trouble in getting voting papers. The inquiry was adjourned until Tuec day morning
