(Per Press Association.) Auckland, last night. At a meeting of touchers and School Committee representatives stroDg exception s wa* taken to the existing conditions as regards the staffing of schools, the mam complaint being against tho appointment of ioaieqaa-ely trained pnp ; l teachers to control large numbers of pupil?. It was decided to make representations to tho Government in the matter. A protest was lodged against tb.e clause in the Secondary Schools Act making it compulsory that children under 14 obtaining proficiency certificates shou d attend secondary ecboQls before the expiration of the year in whuh tho certificates were obtained. Having secured certificates they should within any reasonable time be enabled to enjoy tho benefits of secondary education. The Eden Liberal and Labor Federation Ipa3sed a resolution congratulating the Premier on ht 3 birthday, and wishing that he may long be spared to guide the destinies of tho colony which has prosiDralso much under his adminisSratioa.
