WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

TRIBUTE TO MEMORY OF MRS SIEV WRIGHT. (Per Press Association.) Christchurch, last night. Tbe Canterbury Women’s Institute decided that as a tribute to tho memory of Mrs Sievwright tbe women of New Zealand be urged to insist that the iniquitous C.D. Acts be erased from thG Statute Book. The recent scandal in the Dunedin force was unmistakeable evidence against the police being entrusted with the powers which these Acts allow them. Tho exeective of the National Council is to be asked to communicate with the Young New Zealand Party to ascertain whether the party were in favor of the removal of the disabilities of women. Opinions were expressed that women ought not to support any party which refused them fall rights of citizenship, and that since the passing of female franchise women owed little to the present Government, which has consistently turned a deaf ear to measures especially urged by them.
