a >, THF FARMERS’ UNION’S RECOMMENDATIONS. The special committee eet up by the Gisborne Branch of the Farmers’ Units, to draw up recommendations to the Government regarding the freight question, Bat for about two hours on Saturday afternoon, when a lot of information collected on the subject was considered, and the' heads of the committee’s recommendations were informally settled, upon which a formal report will be drawn up and further considered at a subsequent meeting afier the committee have bean able to collect further information on certain heads. Mr J. Clark, a member of the committee, is proceeding South this week, when it is | anticipated that he will be able to get information that will aid the committer) in finally settling their recommendations. We understand it is the desire of the committee to make some practical recommendations on this very important subject, which, without question, affects the welfare I of the whole colony.
