ALLEGED /THEFT AND ARSON. (Per Press Association.) Christchurch, last night. E. A. Sunderland, manager of the Christchurch Steam Laundry Company, was charged at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday withibo choft oi several articles which had been sent to be laundried, of a ■; total value of £2 16s 6d. The policed stated that further charges of a similar . character were pending. Accused was remanded for a week. Bail was allowed—accused in £IOO, and two sureties of £SO each. • .
James Amos and George Moir Crockett, on remand, were charged yesterday with ; having wilfully set fire to the property of the Australasian Waterproof Clothing; Company in January, 1904, and R. A. Bradbury, also on remand, was charged with having procured Amos tp set fire to the premises referred to. Chief-Detective •. Chrystal stated that evidence had to bcT obtained from the North Island and other places, and on his application a further. remand to Saturday next was granted. Accused were allowed tbe same bail as previously.
