A SERICJS CHARGE.

Chrtehureh, last night. It. A. Bradbury, x-Mayor of Sumner, was charged at theUgistrate’s Court today with having, v\h intent to defraud, on or about JanuaryOtb, 1904, procured one James Amos, ’ Christchurch, to unlawfully set firo tea building, the property of R. A. Gree situated in Manchester street, which yas at the time a waterproof clothing ftory. A remand was granted till Satday, bail being allowed —accused in 44land two sureties of f2OO each. Two me: a re at present in custody in connection wi the case, which has arisen out of a fire Mch occurred at 5.30 o’elook one morning. January, 1904. The building waa jEIOOO in the Phcenix office, and a floatg policy in the Victoria Company. SIR J. G. WAD.
