At Aldington yards there was a good The entriss of pigs were the largest so far thi3 season, and a shipment of 400 fat and store from the Chatham Islands. Good entries WBre secured for fat sheep and cattle, but there ywas only/a moderate supply of store sheep ' and lambs. Fat cattle —There was a large entry, mostly of good cattle, but the sale dragged throughout and prices were easier. Steers from £6 2s 6d to £9 17s 6d, heifers £5 17s 6d to £7 7s 6d, cows £4 5s to £7 17s 6d, best beef made from 19s to 21s, and secondary and cow beef 16s to 18s per VlOOlbs. Chatham Islaod cows broagbt Yrom £6 to £7 17s 6d. '■-.Store cattle —The entry was a small oAe, in odd lots, and very little business Was done. Of dairy oows there was a L&mall yarding with fair competition. Best • cows sold from £7 to £9 6d, aged and inferior £2 to £4. ; Fat lambs —There was a small yarding, '■ mostly of freezing quality, a few bein g ex- ■ tra prime. Tnere was a good demand, the previous week’s rates being well maintained. Tegs made 19s to 21s 3d, extra heavy 24s 4d, freezing lambs 17a 6d to 183 7d, lighter weights 16s 6d to 17s. The best price was realised by R. Oakley, of Rakaia, who received 24s 4d for a small line. - Store sheep—There was a fair entry, moßtly wetherr.and all classes met with a •dragging sale. Two and four tooth halfbred wethers made 16s. 4d, two-tooth small, 14s 7d, two and four tooth crossbred wethers 18s, four-tooth crossbred wethers 18s 9d, lambs 103 6d, two-tooth crossbred wethors 17s 9d, two-tooth 14s -4d, 15 two-tooth crossbred ewes in lamb 235, sound mouthed 16s 6d, aged 15s 4d, shorn lambs 15s 6d to 12s. Fat sheep —The entry of fat sheep was the be3t of the aeastfh, every pen being filled. Thore was a good proportion of wethers, and competition was keen, slight advances on last week’s rates being obtained. Best heavy wethers fetched 24s to 265, freezers 21s to 23s 9d, others 19s 6d to 20s. Ewes were well competed for despite the very heavy entry, and prices were fully maintained at previous sale’s rates. A good proportion was taken for freezing purposes. Piga—The entries were the largest tor a considerable time. They were mostly unfinished sorts, and the sale dragged. Prime baconers fetched 42s to 51s, unfinished 32s to 38s (about 3id to 4d per lb), porkers 23s to 32s (4d a lb). For store pigs thore was by fat the dullest sale i experienced this season, there being hardly j any demand at all. Large stores fetched from 15s to 235, medium 103 to 15s, small 6s to 10s.
