Hopkins, hitting out to the sumo bowler, missed tho ball, which took his off stump. His score of 49 was knocked up in 45 minutes. The third and fourth wickets fell with the score at 87, Hill being caught by Wood off a lofty drive off Obeli. Armstrong lost his wicket in attempting to hit u slowish ball from Jayes. Tiva for 108 Trumpet skied Jayes, and Knignt running ;in front of cover-point took a catch. Sis for 129. Gregory joined Noble: and a epell of lively interesting play raised tho total to 163, when Gregory, who had shown sound form, drove Obeli to deep I square leg, where Whitehead secured a good catch. At the luncheon adjournment the seoro stood at 187. Noble 44, secured by careful cricket, having only given a ebaoce when ho had scored two. Gehrs was four.
