PURCHASE OF LAND.
Per Press Association, v Christchurch, last night. The Chairman of the Land Purchase Board has advised Messrs Meares and Williams, of this city, solicitors for Messrs H. D. Buchanan and J. F. Buchanan, the owners of tho Kenloch Estate, Little River, that the Governor has approved of the purchase of the estate. The property consists 0f.15,330 aeros, and it is the best grazing run on the Peninsular for both sheep and cattle. About one third of the estate was originally bush land and some patches of nativo bush have boon systematically preserved by the owners. There are seven bays on tho estate between Peraki and tho Ninety Mile Beach, and tho land in the vicinity is ploughable and suitable either for agricultural or dairy farming purposes, tho only drawbacks at present being tho absence of shipping facilities, but wharves can bo erected at each of the bays at comparatively small oxpense. The estate has been surface sown with cocksfoot and white clover, and is capable of carrying at least two sheep to the acre. Sheep from tho estate have recently been fetching from 22s 6d to 28s at the Addington yards.
