Mr Kettle, S.M., who heard charges •against Barnett and Grant of betting on totalisator odds yesterday, reserving bis decision, announced this morning that upon more careful consideration of section;4 of the Gaming Act, relied on by the prosecution, he was inclined to think the latter part .did not apply to the offenobs alleged against defendants. He suggested the case. be. re-opened and re-argued. Counsel agreed to do this.
Napier, last night. Deferred judgment in the divoroe suit McCutcheon v. MoGuteheon, in which the wife sought a divorce on the of desertion, was,delivered to-day. l‘ J 0 petition being dismissed.

Hopper, wounding and causing actual bodily harm ; W, J. Beat, false declaration on applying for a. marriage certificate ; and McAvinue, assault, causing actual bodily barm. The Bill was thrown out against Robert Rink, a youth charged with assault, causing actual bodily barm, to another boy in a sohoolboy tussle at Feiiding. , g 0,..
