LIFE-SAVING APPLIANCES.
Per Press Association. Auckland, last night. I Robert Campbell, master of the Auck--land ship Quathlamba, was fined £lO for failing to keep the life-saving appliances fit and ready for use. A solicitor representing the Marine Department stated that it was intended to rigidly enforce the lifesaving provisions of the Shippings and ( - Seamen’s Act. In the case of the Qaath- "V lamba, two lifeboats were unfit for immediate service, four lifebelts were defective, and there was no signalling apparß,tus.
