BOROUGH LIGHTS.
(To the Editor Gisborne Times.)
Sir, —I have to thank Councillor Colley for his courteous reply to my letter, but the impression on my mind in reading the report of the Council meeting was that the Palmerston road and Carnarvon street lamp was to bo removed. I still hold the opinion that if any lamp is taken away, however, it should bo the one at the Haiti j bridge. There is the large arc lamp at the adjoining corner, the post office is lighted up every night, and the Masonic I and Coronation Hotels’ largo arc lamps also I throw a stroDg light on the same point. I I have no objection to a ligbt being piaoed I in Herbert street, but with due deference I to the Councillors it would be much more I convenient at the footbridge where pro- I bably fifoy persons would be served to one by the Herbert street lamp. Apologising I for taking up so much of your space on I this question.—l am, eto.i L Ratepayer; l
