GISBORNE CLUB.

OFFICIAL OPENING. Tho official opening- of the Gißborne Club was celobrated on Saturday evening by a dinner, at which there waß a largo and representative attendance. Mr W. Miller presided, boing supported by his Worship tho Mayor (Mr J. Townley) and Mr A. F. Kennedy. After a most sumptuous repast had been fully appreciated the following toast-list and music programme were gone through :—The King, the Chairman ; “ God Save the King ” ; “ Blennerhasset March,” Club orchestra. Official opening, Hon. J. Carroll; song, Mr D. Trent. Commercial and shipping interests, his Worship tho Mayor; song, ‘‘Xer Baby,” Mr H. E. Hill. Reply, Mr A. F. Kennedy (commerce) and J. H. Bond (shipping); song, “ Down tho Vale,”. Dr Buckeridge; “ Tho Orchid,” Club orchestra ; song, “ The Old Umbrella,” Mr E. Ohrisp. Agricultural and pastoral interests, Mr W. L. Roes; soDg, “Plymouth Hoe,” Mr W. Hunter. Reply, Mr O. White; song, “ Down where the Wursburger Flows,” Mr A. Zachariah. Kindred institutions, Chairman ; song, “ The King’s Own,” Mr J. Allan, Reply, Mr Symes, Poverty Bay Club, and Mr Ambridge, Cosmopolitan Club ; recitation, Mr A. F. Kennedy; “ Birds in the Brook,” Club orchestra. Former memberß and visitors, Mr J. H. Oolebourne; song “Tommy,” Mr Mitchell. Reply, Messrs H. G. Watson and J. A. Macleod (former members) and the Hon. Jas. Carroll (visitors) ; Bong, “ Goo-Goo Eyes,” Mr H. E. Hill. The Ladies, Mr J. Wauchop ; chorus, “ Here’s to the Maiden,” company ; solo, Mr W. J, Hunter. Reply, Mr D. Cowan; song. Any Rags,” Mr A. Zachariah ; “ Auld Lang Syne.” Special mention should be made of the selections by the Club orchestra, which were greatly appreciated by one and all present. The orchestra comprised Messrs A. J. Massey, J. Chrisp, J. H. Ormond, H. Barton, F. Palairet, H. Maude and O. Adair, whilst Mr M. Foster was conductor, During the evening a number of congratulatory telegrams from former members of the Club, who have left Gisborne,were read by the Chairman. A very enjoyable function terminated shortly before midnight.
